Happy Thanksgiving 2018!
Since Barney Bear and Jerry Mouse (uncharacteristically sans Tom) can't figure out what to do next, I'm hoping they'll just sit down to a meal, and begin the tradition of Thanksgiving!
Hopefully, it'll turn out better than THIS ONE!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from Joe, Esther, and Averi!
We'll talk about the future of this Blog on the other side of Turkey-Day and Black Friday!
...And just because my obsessive inner child is uneasy about Tom not being invited to the Thanksgiving table...
...Here's another OUR GANG cover, illustrating another uniquely American autumn affair (football), WITH Tom getting the business - as he most-often should!
Remember all the persons, places, and things you are thankful for, and have a festive Thanksgiving Day!

Huh. That cover was weird. Jerry meeting Barney was… not something I expected. The MGM cartoon cast never seemed to belong to one unified world as much as the Disney and Warner Bros. did. Heck, even the modern Tom & Jerry features featuring Droopy Dog cameos decreed that the Tom & Jerry Spike the Bulldog and the Droopy Dog Spike the Bulldog were entirely different characters.
So… thank you for bringing it to my attention!

“Jerry meeting Barney was… not something I expected.”
Let alone the Our Gang/Little Rascals kids! …And NO TOM!
But, such were the wonders of early 1940s Dell Comics! Like Andy Panda sharing a cover with Felix the Cat and Raggedy Ann!
…And, weren’t they great?!
No, no, Joe! Don't remind people of Thanksgiving! We of the Trio of the Talking Turkeys had hoped that we might get out of this alive!
Oh, well. Perhaps we had ought to flee the country. Maybe the Mob of the Maroon Magpie will take us with them on their annual migration. We don't dare ask the Gang of the Green Gorillas to brainwash everyone into forgetting Thanksgiving, though - we hear they're holding a Thanksgiving banquet, and we don't want to end up the main course!
Oh, well... Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, we suppose!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and Esther, too! Long may Averi eat turkey leftovers in her Daisy Duck shirt!
Among the many things I am thankful for this year: those very classy Fantagraphics Disney Masters hardcovers, the just-now-complete Complete Don Rosa hardcovers, IDW Disney comics up until this last turn of fate, the ability to find Disney comics on INDUCKS and to order them from the German and French eBays when American Disney comics fail...and most of all, friends like you!
Happy Thanksgiving, Joe, to you, Esther, and Averi!
That is a very cool cover, for the reasons Achille pointed out. (By the way, cool blog, Achille!)
As for “the future of this blog,” I hope that future is not as ominous as it sounds. I know I haven’t been commenting lately, and I’m not sure when I’ll be able to regularly comment again. Horrifically busy these days, you know. But know that I continue to regularly read this blog, and it never fails to bring a smile to my face.
Happy Thanksgiving! It’s a good day to not be a turkey!
On the MGM characters: strangely, in Filmation’s Tom and Jerry, Spike the bulldog from Tom and Jerry would also appear in Droopy cartoons, and Barney Bear also features in a few of their Droopy shorts as well. Tuffy also appears with Droopy, Spike, the wolf, and Barney in wrap-around segments between cartoons (which rarely show up anymore).
Happy Thanksgiving Y’all!
My contributions to the comment section of this blog have become less frequent recently but it’s always a blast when I have the time to pop in... so I hope your pending announcement regarding the “future of the blog” will be a positive one :)
Happy Thanksgiving to ALL of you who were kind enough to leave wishes, while we were celebrating Thanksgiving with my brother and my nephew, and partaking of various Black Friday deals in comics and DVDs… Elaine, Sergio, Deb, Clapton… and any and everyone else reading this!
I am thankful for all of you and your continued participation in “this thing we do”!
As for the future of this Blog… it will definitely stick around, and perhaps be even more prolific than it has been. I just wanna gather my thoughts on where I see it going, and what I see it doing. That “last turn of fate” that Elaine refers to may have a little something to do with it, he teases not so cryptically!
I’m pleased to announce that “The Trio of Talking Turkeys” are still with us! As the “president” of this Blog, I gave them presidential pardons!
Finally, today November 23, 2018, is Averi’s FIRST BIRTHDAY! She was a 2017 Thanksgiving baby, so Turkey Day will always be her unofficial birthday! For those who seek out this sort of thing, look for a small and very unobtrusive nod to that somewhere in UNCLE SCROOGE # 40! She’s been given a copy of her very own!
A (slightly belated) Happy Thanksgiving to you, Joe, and a happy birthday to Averi!
Thank you, George, from Averi and us! And an even more belated Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Happy post Turkey day Joe and thank you for a fun and wonderful blog. I look forward to each new post you make and the information that I get from reading them.
Thank you, Jim! And our best wishes to you!
