The Mad-Women of DC Comics!

It’s a mad, mad, mad, mad world all right!

HERE, we noted the appearance of MAD MEN characters in the comic book DARKWING DUCK # 9.

On the heels of that, we find MAD MEN’s two female leads providing voices for two very well-known DC Comics characters for Warner Home Video’s direct-to-DVD series of DC Comics properties.

Quick digression: Regardless of my present opinion of the current state of the comic books published by DC Comics, I still greatly enjoy this series of animated product produced by the great Bruce Timm.

In the recently released ALL STAR SUPERMAN, Christina Hendricks (“Joan Holloway”) is Lois Lane (needs no further introduction) and, in the summer 2011 release GREEN LANTERN: EMERALD KNIGHTS Elizabeth Moss (“Peggy Olsen”) is Arisia, of planet Grazos IV and Green Lantern of Sector 2815 – the neighboring sector to Earth’s GL Hal Jordan.

As a rookie GL, and the “fish-out-of-men’s-waters” on MAD MEN, Moss’ casting is particularly apropos. Hendricks is also fine as Lois, but tell me that you didn’t get a Carrie Bradshaw / SEX AND THE CITY vibe when she was typing on her computer in Superman’s fortress and wondering aloud about Superman's intentions. I sure did.

…On second thought, DON’T tell me. We men aren’t supposed to admit publically to watching SEX AND THE CITY! Hey, how ‘bout those awesome superhero FIGHTS… an’, an’ …all that other ACTION and stuff-like-that-there in the film, eh?
