R.I.P. Governor Mario Cuomo.

We mourn the passing of former Governor of the State of New York, Mario M. Cuomo, on January 01, 2015, at the age of 82.

Governor Coumo, the father of current New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, was an eloquent speaker for the progressive political viewpoint, and (certainly to me) an inspiration for all Italian-Americans.

Governor Coumo served three terms as the Governor of New York, from 1983-1994.

Rest in Peace, Governor Mario Cuomo.

Nice pots, Joe! Here's another great tribute to Cuomo: http://alicublog.blogspot.com/2015/01/mario-cuomo-1932-2015.html

Thank you for that link, Mark. HERE’S an easy path to it for readers to follow. It’s a nice piece of additional background perspective. I certainly remember (and voted in) the contest between Cuomo and Lew Lehrman. It also shows how politics has changed – and continues to change for the worse – over these last 30-odd years. And reminds me exactly why I tend to stay away from discussion of it on this Blog.

I’ve gone from a tremendous interest in all things political it, as the sixties turned to the seventies, to an overall distaste for it today. Oh, I vote in every election, from presidential to “the local-est of local”, and certainly follow it more so than the average person, but I find the overall conduct of those involved, and discussion thereof, to be outside the tone and spirit I set for this Blog.

…On, this week, to Rex Ryan and TALE SPIN!
