Family Matters - 2023!

Playing catch-up with the Blog, it's time to... um, "catch up" on a few Family Matters!

August 19, 2023 saw the birth of Grandchild Number Three - Logan, a boy who will bear both the burdens and delights of having two older sisters!

Averi and Cici "bear the delight" of their new baby brother!

Averi was quick to say... "Now we are THREE KIDS... and that's ENOUGH!" ...But, do they ever love their li'l bro!

...And each other!

Soon it was "back to business" as Averi began FIRST GRADE on September 05, 2023!

Averi is prepping for the big day!  Cici's just mimicking Big Sis.

And today, September 23, 2023, is Cici's THIRD BIRTHDAY !  How, time flies!

Averi will turn SIX on this coming Thanksgiving, making them all evenly spaced at THREE YEARS APART!  ...Now, THAT'S planning!

WE LOVE THEM ALL SO MUCH!

Thanks for the update, Joe! How wonderful to welcome little Logan into the family fold! I hope he proves as much of a delight as the girls have been for you! The pictures show some happy, healthy kids! (I made a typo that read "hammy" and maybe that applies, too!)

You know they have a built-in fan club!

Happy Grandparenthood-to-the-power-of-three, Joe! A belated Happy 3rd Birthday to Cici! And I hope Averi finds more interest and fun in First Grade than exasperation, overall. May there be good friends and cool things to learn. Soon you'll get to decide which comics to start her on, as she starts reading them for herself! Probably another year or so before you launch her into Duck territory....

Oh, my! Lovely pictures as ever (what a remarkable hat Logan's got in that first one), and my congratulations to the newly-minted Big Sisters! As a Big Sibling myself I am thrilled to welcome them in spirit to our timeless ranks; may they protect, astonish and entertain little Logan in years to come. And of course, a slightly-delayed happy birthday to Cici!…

It's very nice to hear such great news, Joe! My best wishes to your entire family, with a special nod to the latest newcomer. May his relations with his sisters always be trouble-free :) Lots of blessings to you all!

THANK YOU ONE AND ALL FOR SUCH WONDERFUL COMMENTS!

Scarecrow: “Hammy” *does* apply to Averi, my imaginative little actress, and I suspect the others will follow suit. Cici’s already well on her way! You can oversee the “Averi, Cici, and Logan Fan Club” – West Coast Chapter, while I continue to chair the East Coast Chapter!

Matilda: Averi finds great interest and little, if any, exasperation in her first month of first grade! She soaks up knowledge of all kinds like the proverbial sponge. She enjoys friends as well. She’s reading story books to us, and we play spelling and handwriting games together.

I don’t think she’s quite ready for comics yet, though Grandma Millie was reading them to me at age four and, by later age five, I was reading them myself! Gotta be certain that she – and more likely her destructive sister Cici – will be gentle enough before I haul anything out for them. Averi actually does know that it’s coming when she’s a little older! No definite timeline yet.

Achille: I LOVE THAT HAT! I wish Esther and I were responsible for it, but no… we just sorta found it on him one day, looking kinda “Seven-Dwarf-ish”. And, as I just told Esther while typing this, that is the single greatest picture of Logan to date! That’s why I featured in on the Blog, and why it’s the lock screen image on Esther’s phone!

T.: “May his relations with his sisters always be trouble-free :)” Um, we’d *like* that but, with the two personalities involved, I think Logan is going to “live in interesting times.”

Congratulations, Joe! Being a grandparent (and, necessarily, a parent also) must be a tremendous joy.

That is a very cool hat Logan's got there. Looks like he's in the Christmas spirit already!

While “grandpa-ism” often contributes to my perpetual state of (all together now) horrific business – sometimes sidetracking my writing and other activities, as well as wreaking general havoc on my personal communications as many of you know – it is without doubt the greatest joy I’ve ever known!

Esther is in the process of making all three of them Christmas sweaters (and they *are* wonderful and in Christmas-y colors), but I still wish we could take credit for that amazing hat!
